Dear Pacific Families & Dancers,
In alignment with the new public health guidance released by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the Oregon Health Authority (OHA), Oregon Department of Education (ODE), Multnomah County Public Health, and Portland Public Schools (PPS) beginning March 14th, 2022 we will be implementing optional masks in our studio. We understand that comfort levels on mask wearing will vary in our community and, while all our staff is vaccinated, you may see some instructors choose to continue to wear a mask during class. We welcome dancers to wear masks and encourage you to make the choice that is best for you and your family.
We continue to require that all individuals stay home when sick . Dancers will be able to return when fever free for at least 24 hours and are encouraged to wear a mask for five additional days.
We will continue common sense practices to maintain a healthy environment for our dancers, such as a brief symptom screening upon arrival and cleaning the studio space between classes. Additionally, we will continue to keep the classes closed, allowing only dancers and instructors in the studio. We will escort students out at the end of the class.
Let us know if you have any questions.
As always, these practices are subject to change based on public health guidelines and we deeply appreciate your patience and support as our small business navigates the ever changing state of health in our community.
Thank you,
Pacific Dance Academy Staff
What we're doing:
-
Teachers will wash hands with soap and water for 20 seconds before class.
-
We are providing sanitizing gel at the studio entrance and exit. Please use it upon entering the studio.
-
We will be completing a brief symptom screening of each student upon arrival.
-
Classes start times are spaced so the studio can be disinfected after each class. This includes: floor, barres, mats, door handles, and other frequently touched surfaces.
-
Continual air will be circulating through the studio via our HVAC and studio doors may be opened, when weather allows, to encourage flow of outside air through the space.
-
We have staggered arrival and departure times for individuals to minimize congregating at entrances, exits, and restrooms.
-
We have increased awareness of protocol with our staff. In the event that a dancer or staff member is sick, they are to remain home and rest. Substitute instructor may be provided, class may be rescheduled, or class may move to temporary remote learning.
When Arriving at the Studio
-
Be thoughtful of spacing when entering and exiting doors from other dancers and families.
-
All dancers must wait for an instructor to check them in before entering the studio. This may include daily symptom check.
-
Please wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water, or use hand sanitizer provided, as you enter the studio.
-
We ask dancers to bring only necessary items to class (water bottle, clean dance shoes/socks, masks).
-
Dancers need to pack & use their own full water bottle. No other food or drink will be allowed in the studio.
-
Dancers will need to wear appropriate clean dance shoes or clean socks for their class.
-
Only students are allowed in the studio, no guardians. Guardians are encouraged to enjoy Sellwood park and waterfront, visit local Sellwood establishments, or wait in their car with a book or podcast. Feel free to view class through our front windows.
During Class
-
Dancers are encouraged to avoid touching their faces.
-
Dancers will engage in activities that will limit close physical contact.
-
Dancers will participate in lesson plans that reduce the need for contact spotting or physical contact.
-
Class sizes will remain small to support dancers physical space.
-
Limit bathroom usage by going before you leave home. Wash hands for 20 seconds after using the bathroom.
-
Please have a hygiene conversation with your dancer(s) before you drop them off to keep it present in their mind. You may even want to make it a part of your daily routine to talk about how to be safe and maintain good health. Do keep it simple to be effective.
After Class
-
Dancers are to be picked up promptly at the end of class.
-
Dancers are encouraged to wash or sanitize hands upon leaving the studio.
-
All items brought by dancers must be taken home. 'Lost & Found' will not be stored at this time.
Guidelines are subject to change based on OHA, OSHA and CDC recommendations.
